These Terms of Service govern your use of The Illuminated Word, operated by Ashley Cacamis as a sole proprietor. By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. The Service

The Illuminated Word is a free, interactive Bible reader with historical companions. Reading, searching, and the historical archive are free. An optional membership at $4.99/month unlocks deeper study tools.

2. Eligibility and accounts

You must be 18 or older (or have parent or guardian consent) to create an account. You agree to provide accurate information, keep your password secure, and be responsible for activity under your account.

3. Membership and billing

Membership is available as an Individual plan ($4.99/month) or a Group plan ($49.99/month for up to 12 members, with one leader who pays and invites the others). Both renew automatically until you cancel. Payment is processed by Base44 Payments. You may cancel at any time from your account, and cancellation is immediate. 4. Acceptable use

• Do not abuse, overload, or attempt to disrupt the Service or scrape its content.
• Do not post unlawful, infringing, harassing, hateful, or harmful content.
• Do not use automated scripts to access the Service without permission.
• Do not use the Service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose.

5. User content

You retain ownership of content you create (studies, notes, journal entries, shared verses). By posting it, you grant us a license to host, display, and operate the Service with it. You warrant that your content is yours and lawful. Group content is screened by AI-assisted moderation, and we may remove content that violates these Terms.

6. AI-assisted features

Some features use AI and may produce inaccurate results. They are not professional, pastoral, medical, or legal advice. See our AI-Assisted Features Disclosure.

7. Third-party content and sources

Scripture text is drawn from public-domain sources. We link to external museums, archives, and references for historical context and are not responsible for third-party sites.

8. Intellectual property

The Service design, code, and curated historical content are owned by Ashley Cacamis. Public-domain scripture remains in the public domain.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, reliability, or fitness for a particular purpose.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Ashley Cacamis is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for loss of data or profits. Our aggregate liability is limited to the amount you paid in the 12 months before the claim.

11. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify Ashley Cacamis against claims arising from your use of the Service or your violation of these Terms or others’ rights.

12. Termination

You may close your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violations of these Terms.

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. We will try to resolve disputes informally. Any claim must be brought in the courts located in Pennsylvania; small-claims court remains an option where allowed.

14. Changes

We may update these Terms and will revise the “Last updated” date above when we do. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
